Can I drain my water softener into my septic system?
Softener discharge into septic tanks has been a point of contention for decades. In the 1970s, Water Quality Research Foundation (known then as the Water
Quality Research Council) funded studies conducted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at NSF International that provided robust data to refute the allegations against softener discharge into on-site systems. The data did not find fault with water softeners discharging into septic systems
Please check local building codes for proper draining of your softener.
What is Ozone?
The benefits of ozone for cryptosporidium inactivation
There are constant microbiological threats in our daily lives; unfortunately, our drinking water and the recreational water that we play in are not excluded from where these threats reside. Among those preying on unsuspecting humans is the protozoan parasite —cryptosporidium (crypto). Crypto is one of the toughest microbes faced in water treatment, however, by the power of the molecule, ozone can eliminate it.
Why do I get pink staining in my shower stall?
Each year, a few customers call the water treatment plant to ask about a slimy pink substance that sometimes forms in moist areas around their homes. They most frequently observe it in toilet bowls, on surfaces in shower stalls and bathtub enclosures, on tiles, in sinks, and in pet water dishes.
Can I drink soft water?
Even though water softeners will add some sodium to the diet, the amount added should not in itself cause great concern. There are many foods with far more amount of sodium than the insignificant amount contained in softened water. It would be far more reasonable to cut back on these salty foods than to target softened water as a source of excess sodium
How does a water softener work?
A water softener works on a principle known as ion exchange. The softener contains resin beads, which are charged with sodium ions. When hard water passes through the resin the hardness minerals change places with the sodium ions on the beads. The hardness-free water then passes into the house.

Sulfate reducing bacteria that feeds on natural occurring sulfates in the water will cause the rotten egg smell. This can occur in the well or the water softener,
The same organic reducing bacteria that causes hydrogen sulfide gas can also feed on organic material in your homes plumbing caused by in effective water treatment will create the rotten egg order.
Why is my water discolored
Tannins are a natural organic material that can be the byproducts of nature's fermentation process, be created as water passes through peaty soil and decaying vegetation. This can cause water to have a faint yellow to tea-like color, and can cause yellow staining on fabrics, fixtures, china and laundry.
What is iron bacteria?
Iron bacteria are bacteria that "feed" on iron. They are a natural part of the environment in most parts of the world. There are several non-disease causing bacteria which grow and multiply in stringy clumps in water, and use iron dissolved in water as part of their metabolism.
